The outfit of the season is two pieces, not one
If there is a single formula that defines this summer, it is the co-ord: a top and a bottom cut from the same cloth, worn together on purpose. It has been the quiet winner of the season. Vogue gave the matching linen set its own shopping edit at the end of June 2026, and the reasoning was simple — a set already looks composed, so you do not have to work at it.
What makes the trend genuinely useful is that it is two wardrobes in one. Worn together you get the uninterrupted line of a maxi dress. Split apart the next morning you get a blouse and a skirt that both work with things you already own.

Length. Maxi hems held their ground all summer. Long is easier in heat than short, it photographs better, and it moves — which is most of the appeal.
Print, worn with confidence. The spring/summer 2026 shows put pattern back at the centre of the conversation, from polka dots to painterly florals, and the styling advice that came with it was to let one print lead and keep everything around it quiet. If you want two prints in one outfit, keep them in the same colour family and change the scale — a small dot with a large floral, never two mediums.
